Mickey Mouse Says Bye-Bye To Boy Scouts

Disney has decided not to allocate any more charitable funds to the Boy Scouts of America any more due to their stance on gay leadership. Boy Scouts came under scrutiny recently when they were debating whether or not to allow gay individuals to be a part of their organization.

The top echelon of the company held a vote and it landed in favour of allowing gay children to be a part of Scouts but not in favour of allowing people to hold leadership positions if their are gay. Disney officials caught word of this ignorant decision and decided to pull their charitable donations partnership with Boy Scouts of America. Last year Disney graciously provided $4.8 million to Boy Scouts of America through their charitable work branch called VoluntEARS. This will be a great reminded to Boy Scouts of America to practice love and tolerance for all children.

According to Disney’s charitable giving guidelines, groups become ineligible to receive Disney funding if they “discriminate in the provision of services unlawfully or in a manner inconsistent with Disney’s policies on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, marital status, mental or physical ability, or sexual orientation.”
