Quentin Carter was arrested at the fresh ripe age of 16 for a crime he never committed and put behind bars for 17 years. Wrongfully accused, he would spend most of his prime adult life behind bars over negligence of the justice system and false testimony given by the victim.
Imagine being arrested and charged with the rape of a 10 year old and being 100% innocent. Never being able to graduate, never getting to see your child grow up, never getting to spend time with people who raised you and then some of them passing away while you were behind bars.
Imagine the bombardment of toxic energy swarming you every day, completely shaping how you view the world by hardened criminals for 17 years of your life. Year after year passing by full well knowing in your heart of hearts that you had absolutely nothing to do with the crime, vocally maintaining your innocence while everyone around says, “yeah, we aren’t guilty either”.
Quentin had the right of passage, childhood innocence completely stripped away from him and he will never regain that comfort or protection in life. What an injustice!
